Sunshine
Coast - Things To Do The Sunshine Coast offers something for everyone. "Basking in the Sunshine Coast" - The New York Times August 24, 2008 Winter is time to ski and the Sunshine Coast offers wonderful backcountry cross country skiing opportunities. Dakota Ridge features 13km of groomed cross country ski trails and 8km of marked snowshoe trails. Natural forest environment with amazing ocean views. Get out on the water and sail, fish, kayak, swim or dive. Howe Sound and other nearby inlets were carved by glaciers and offer some of the most fantastic diving locations in North America. Don't have your own boat? We will reserve your spot with a local tour operator or kayak rental. Hike or bike in one of the many local parks or just relax with a picnic. Walk down to a local beach and take a swim. Sprockids Mountain Bike Park contains a network of interesting trails and is only 2km from Arcturus Retreat B&B. Skookumchuck Narrows is an amazing display of tidal power tucked away at the end of a popular trail farther up the coast. Is shopping more your style? Visit one of our many galleries or local artisan shops on the Purple Banner Tour. A glass blowing studio is 2 blocks from Arcturus Retreat B&B. The Sechelt Farmers' & Artisans' Market is open Saturdays April-September. Gibsons features the Fiddlehead Farmers' Market on Saturdays June-October. Gibsons' Holland Park Market is open Sundays May-September. Live music is an important part of the Sunshine Coast environment. Local performers are a regular feature at many local restaurants year round and at the many festivals. Gibsons features Music in the Landing every summer weekend, a series of free concerts in various outdoor venues. The Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival is always a big hit. Golf? Bring the clubs! We will book your tee time at one of four local courses.
